Unfortunately, though I didn't know Harry Truman, and I didn't work for Harry Truman, I feel confident in citing Sen. Lloyd Benston, "Mr. Obama, you're no Harry Truman."

I think he's being overly cautious here. Not even to give gay federal workers health benefits!?

Good post. But I point you to another president, who didn't wait for the country to catch up and, instead, did the right thing: Harry Truman. His executive order, combined with the pressing needs of the Korean War, resulted in the integration of the Armed Services. An excellent article is here.
